Differences in guide dog acceptance between China and other countries

图片
Great to see you again, dear readers! This week, I'll be happy to share with you the differences in guide dog acceptance between China and other countries! As you can see in other countries, especially Western countries, guide dogs are very common, but in China, no! Why is that--you may find the answers in the this blog ☺ One possible reason for this difference is cultural attitudes towards dogs in China. Dogs have a long history of serving functional roles in Chinese society, such as hunting or guarding livestock. However, they have traditionally not been seen as pets in the same way they are in many western countries. As a result, people in China may not understand the role of guide dogs or be accustomed to seeing them in public spaces. Another reason could be related to accessibility infrastructure. In many western countries, there are laws and regulations in place that require public spaces to be accessible to people with disabilities, including those who use guide dogs. This ...

Challenges Blind People Have to Face When Living Life

图片
Dear readers! It's nice to see you again!👋 This week, I'd like to share you with some online researches about the obstacle s of the blind.  What are the c hallenges blind people have to face when living life? 1. Navigating Around Places The biggest challenge for a blind person, especially the one with the complete loss of vision, is to navigate around places. Obviously, blind people roam easily around their house without any help because they know the position of everything in the house. People living with and visiting blind people must make sure not to move things around without informing or asking the blind person. Commercial places can be made easily accessible for the blinds with tactile tiles. But, unfortunately, this is not done in most of the places. This creates a big problem for blind people who might want to visit the place.   2. Overly helpful individuals It ’ s very common for sighted individuals, strangers, friends or family, to be overly excited to help a...

Planning of the Social Experiment

图片
As I mentioned in mt first blog, I want to do a social experiment to feel the inconvernience myself. And  before doing that, I might first need to learn about the social experiment: what it is, and how to perform it? So, according to the Wikipedia,  “A  social experiment   is a type of psychological or sociological research for observing people's reactions to certain situations or events. The experiment depends on a particular social approach where the main source of information is the participants' point of view and knowledge. To carry out a social experiment, specialists usually split participants into two groups — active participants (people who take action in particular events) and respondents (people who react to the action). Throughout the experiment, specialists monitor participants to identify the effects and differences resulting from the experiment. A conclusion is then created based on the results. Intentional communities are ...

Hi! This is sightless adventures why would I want to start this blog? ☺ The reason I start this project is actually very simple!  🐕  I want more people around the world to know more about the situation about guide dogs in China, also it would provide myself an opportunity to learn about this topic! I personally really like dogs, and sincerely believe that they could help!    🙌 And recently I found a blind lady in Beijing who had a guide dog, she posted her daily life with her lovely fellow “Shaguo” on TikTok. It was so sweet and amazing, yet I see very few service dogs including guide dogs on the road. So this basically reminds me of the importance of studying this topic. My final plan for this project is to do a self-envolved social experiment about what are the possible obstacles of a blind person. Then we can see if doggies can help to overcome these difficulties and what are the challenges of putting the dogs in China. The Guide Dog-Shaguo Account 🦮 Anyway, I ...
